Where we work

We are dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through our psychologically informed non-contact boxing programmes. With over 5,000 young people benefitting from our programmes every year across England and Wales, we are proud to have established ourselves as the UK’s leading provider of boxing-based interventions.

We offer our programmes in a variety of settings, including our own boxing gym in Bristol, schools, and through a network of partner organisations and affiliated amateur boxing clubs.

OUR GYM

Our inner-city Bristol boxing gym at The Mill is fitted out with all the top quality equipment needed for both world champion boxers and the young people we work with to train.

our network of BOXING CLUBS

Since March 2022, we have been working in partnership with our national governing body England Boxing to train amateur boxing clubs to deliver our programmes to young people in their communities. Our aim is to combat youth violence and poor mental health by offering a proven solution that can make a real difference in towns and cities across England.

We believe that boxing clubs are the perfect setting to deliver our programmes. Based in economically deprived neighbourhoods, these clubs already have credibility in their local area and are improving young people’s lives by giving them the chance to participate in sport and offering informal support. By partnering with us, boxing clubs have the opportunity to take what they currently do to a whole new level and transform their local communities.

FAR REACHING SUPPORT

To identify suitable clubs to partner with, we work closely with England Boxing, who oversee nearly 1,000 affiliated boxing clubs. We are looking for clubs that have: a commitment to delivering our work and forming a partnership; a cultural fit with Empire Fighting Chance; the right foundations in terms of facilities, staff, safeguarding and a healthy financial position; a strong reputation and credibility in their local area; and experience of working with vulnerable groups of young people.

Once selected, boxing clubs receive a free two-day training course at our Bristol gym, where they learn about all aspects of our organisation, including our programmes, operations, sales, and monitoring and evaluation.

They also receive ongoing support for at least twelve months from our Growth and Development Manager, who is dedicated to their success. They benefit from visits from our psychologist and other experts, resources to help them to deliver our work, and refresher training.

We are proud to welcome boxing clubs affiliated to England Boxing from towns and cities across the country to our growing network, called Powered by Empire Fighting Chance, who are fighting for change in their communities and sharing their best practice.
