As we celebrate ten years as a charity, we wanted to honour our local community.

So we have launched a community ambassador project.

A list of people from various sectors that will support Empire and become community ambassadors for us.

We wanted to celebrate key local people that have played a role in our heritage and history, even beyond those ten years.

So we have launched a community ambassador project, choosing people that have meant something to us in the past, present or will in the future.

It will be a cross section of people from different communities, with different experiences and different skills, all of which that can help the charity move forward for another ten years. Some go right back to the earliest concept of Empire, at the boxing club and the power lifting gym, others have been involved in more recent times as fighters, parents, clients, mentors or just supporters.

Some excel in education, sport coaching, business and boxing and cooking – but what they have in common is that all have a role to play and are passionate about supporting our work.

Co-founder of Empire Fighting Chance  Jamie Sanigar said : “As Empire Fighting Chance approaches a decade as a charity, and decades before as a stand alone boxing club, we felt it's important to honour our past heritage and our future. Community has always been and remains at the core and heart of our work.

We have grown from a base in St Pauls to a home in Easton, to working with young people from all across the city. Today we are working nationally with our scale UK network, and starting to create more overseas international partnerships.

Everything has expanded far more than we could have ever imagined, from having three staff to over 40. We are proud of what we have achieved, yet recognise the fight continues.

So to honour community heroes, we want to link with people who have either been pivotal in our journey, or will be soon to come . So we are all excited to launch the Empire Community Ambassador project. A list of simply brilliant people."

They will all be involved in various parts of our work as time moves on. The starting point is that we will have a coffee and sit down with each to interview them about their life, hopes and dreams and thoughts on Empire Fighting Chance.

A new ambassador will be revealed week by week.

The first one will be launched in early September.....so stay tuned and watch this space!
