We celebrate one year of our partnership with Active Lancashire

It has been just over a year since Empire Fighting Chance first partnered with Active Lancashire.

A network organisation that are the strategic lead for Sport and Physical activity in Lancashire.

So we invited them down for a two days of workshops at the Centre of Excellence in Bristol.

Active Lancashire are a Sport England-led Active partner that drives sports delivery system across the country. 

We believe organisations in communities are best situated to work with young people from their communities. The similar values and vision from Active Lancashire made it an easy decision for us to share our work with them.

In the summer of 2023, Active Lancashire recruited local grassroots organisations to attend the Empire gym in Bristol. After a successful and impactful year of working together, we are extending our work into a second year.

This month, a group of organisations from Lancashire attended the Empire gym in Bristol to be trained in delivery of our Box Champions programme.

Organisations who attended  were :

Pendle Youth Employment Support Hub

Lancashire Youth Challenge

Preston Youth Zone

Creative Football

Archbishop Temple High School

St Augustines Primary School

The Foxton Centre

CEO of Preston Onside Youth Zone : "Today we learnt about the empire principles and the games and actions of delivery with it . We think the Box Champions Programme is brilliant, am really impressed."

Ronan McMahon, Active Lancashire said : 'It's brilliant being here in Bristol and learning more about the Box Champions programme. We did this last year, and we have taken it to a new level now.

Using this approach has made a massive impact on young people's lives in our area, and there has been lots of learning today. The energy in the room has been fantastic and we will bring this back to Lancashire and make great things happen."

A team from Empire will be in Lancashire in October to continue  support with a delivery workshop.

We look forward to continuing our support for these amazing organisations in delivery of Empire programmes.
