Passionate speech by GCSE student on the impact of Empire in his life

Jayden Clee attends Mountain Ash school in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.

He has been part of the Empire Fighting Chance schools programme at the school, and attended for a term.

As part of his English GCSE he was asked to write a speech about something he was really passionate about and had made a difference in his life.

He chose Empire. Unedited and in his own words this is what he wrote and said.

Do you struggle to control your emotions? Do you feel like you want to let them out and learn new life and boxing skills? Well, if the answer is yes, maybe Empire Fighting Chance is for you.

Empire Fighting Chance provides boxing therapy to help you tackle mental health problems. They teach you a variety of life skills and boxing skills. Unfortunately, it's inaccessible to everyone in the public, and only select people that they see are struggling. So should this be more available to the wider public?

The Box Champions programme is delivered all across South Wales

Firstly, Fighting Chance helps you tackle mental health problems by teaching you life skills and using boxing therapy to help you take out your anger or any other mental health problems you may have. Scientists say that boxing stimulates the release of something in the brain called endorphins that act as natural mood lifters, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety. This is why fighting chance could help you tackle your mental health problem. Therefore, it should be more open to the public because the more people that have access to Fighting Chance and their programmes, more people will have better mental health.

Secondly, everyone has goals they want to achieve in life and so should you. In that case fighting will help you achieve them. That's right, fighting is not just about helping you with mental health, it's also about helping you achieve your goals. Fighting Chance would help you achieve by teaching you skills and taking you on fun adventures.

Jayden took on the Empire Fighting Chance Pen-Y-Fan challenge this year

For example, at the start of this year they took me on a trip to climb Pen Y Fan and I had to set a goal to climb it in a certain amount of time. I achieved this by pushing myself to keep on going and when I reached the top I realised this wasn't just for fitness - it taught me a life lesson. I realised it taught me to keep on pushing forward in life and always try and push to reach my goal.

Empire Fighting Chance pushed me to be in the right mindset in life and helped me realise what I want to do through my career.
