Fighting for what matters with our new impact report

Empire Fighting Chance has published the latest annual impact report.
In 2024, we are proud to share that boxing programmes have reached over 10,000 young people in over 40 places across the UK.
It also marked our tenth year, highlighting our journey from a small boxing project to a national charity with significant reach and impact.
The report states : ‘Despite our growth, we have never lost sight of who we are and what matters to us most. This was plain to see this past year in our drive to improve our work and give even more young people a fighting chance to realise their unique potential.’
Ten year timeline
2024 was a year of progress and significant change and growth, and one that gave us an opportunity to look at our journey.
Over the last ten years we have reached a total of 47,576 young people, and there have been some significant milestones along the way. From moving into The Mill in inner city Bristol in 2010; to starting work in South Wales in 2016; to partnering with England boxing to share our knowledge to other clubs in 2021; and joining the international Peace in Our cities movement to combat urban violence in 2023.
And in 2025 we are proud to start an exciting partnership with Matchroom, the biggest global boxing promoters, to work with up to 100 amateur boxing clubs across the country. We will be working with their community department, to develop, support and grow clubs from Cornwall to Northumberland.
Map of scale and impact
We will continue our legacy of excellence in boxing delivery, sharing our knowledge, changing public policy and creating safer and thriving communities.
As we move forward for another successful ten years, we are ‘Fighting For What Matters.’
Programmes in action
The three key areas of development we will focus on are :
ESTABLISH OUR GLOBAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
We will continue to improve the quality and impact of our work in Bristol so that our programmes for young people reach their full potential. Priorities for the year ahead include a major extension to our boxing gym and developing a more intensive and impactful careers programme.
GROW A MOVEMENT FIGHTING THE SAME FIGHT
We will expand our network of trained partners who are delivering our work for young people in their local area. Working in partnership with Matchroom Boxing, we will share our work with even more boxing clubs up and down the country. We will also start working in at least one other country
BRING THE FIGHT TO DECISION MAKERS
We will inspire changes that make a difference to young lives, drawing on our growing movement and the powerful voices of young people.
Our main priority is to secure approval and funding for an independent Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) in Bristol.
The Empire way
We would like to thank everyone who has supported Empire Fighting Chance over the last ten years, and in particular during 2024. Our achievements this past year were only made possible through your kindness and commitment to our work.
We look forward to working with you in 2025 as we continue our mission to transform young people’s lives through non-contact boxing.
