Boston Tea Party hospitality skills day
In March this year, Boston Tea Party hosted a small group of Empire Fighting Chance's young people at their café on Whiteladies Road.
Boston Tea Party have a number of cafes across the city of Bristol and believe in hiring people based on the person rather that a CV. They also believe in making things better.
The day was hosted by staff from Boston Tea Party and they demonstrated to the young people what it is like to work in one of their cafes. The young people were able to see roles in action, such as the baristas, kitchen staff and front of house staff.
The team at Boston Tea Party were hugely informative and inspiring to the young people. So much so that two young people applied for roles as team members, with support from an Empire Fighting Chance careers coach. After an interview process and trial shift, both young people were offered team member roles at one of their cafes.
Aaron, our Careers coach, said, “The team at BTP were really inspiring and spoke so highly of where they work. Hearing professionals speak like this was motivating for the young people and they all left the day feeling more positive about their futures. To have the young people leave feeling optimistic, believing they were able to get into work, is priceless.”
Natasha, who attended the day, said “It seems a really cool place to work with no judgement. I can see myself working there.”
Hamielia, who also attended the day, said “ I was really nervous about coming here today but felt at ease when I arrived. Everyone was super nice and friendly”.
We have another Boston Tea Party hospitality skills day booked in for 17 May 2022 with a new group of people. If you are interested in attending, please contact [email protected]
Once again, a big thank you to Boston Tea Party for continually supporting our young people.
