Tyler Grange recently swapped development sites for the boxing ring – taking part in Empire Fighting Chance's Corporate Team Building session, experiencing our award-winning psychologically informed non-contact boxing programmes.

Ecology teams from the firm’s Southwest and London offices came together to spend a dynamic day at Bristol's home of boxing. Using non-contact exercises, values of the sport were combined with evidence-based psychological principles. This helps achieve enhanced productivity and wellbeing in the workplace.

Such was the success of the session, the firm’s northern and midlands-based teams will soon get to enjoy this team building activity too.

In return, the consultancy experienced at first hand the importance of Empire's work with young people – and how Empire's techniques change lives – by being put through their paces in the professional boxing gym. The Tyler Grange team also enjoyed competitive team games that were designed and facilitated by some of the young people who have been through the programme.

In addition, the £2,700 donation made by Tyler Grange for the session will fund four young people places on our 20-week Box Champions programme, which equips 8 to 25 year olds with the skills, psychology-informed mentoring and inspiration to make positive changes to their lives.

Rachel Chatting, Regional Ecology Director at Tyler Grange, said: “There were a number of key factors that made Empire Fighting Chance such an appealing partner for our teambuilding activity. Firstly, it was immensely enjoyable and different to anything that we’ve done before, which always holds real appeal for us as a business. We love to innovate and do things a little differently”.

“Secondly, as a business that places such emphasis on CSR and the communities and causes around our seven nationwide offices, we were delighted to be able to invest in such a brilliant cause that does so much good in and around Bristol, where we have an office, and in partner schools and educational establishments across the region. We’re very happy and proud to support local young people in this way.

“We’ve always recognised the importance of mental and physical health at Tyler Grange and make significant investment in supporting our 85+ team in these areas. It’s great to help provide a similar provision to others who don’t get access to such support.”

Emily Haberfield, Head of Fundraising at Empire Fighting Chance, said: “Our charity was born on Bristol’s streets in 2006 to fight the impact of inequality on young lives. Empire Fighting Chance now deliver four psychologically informed non-contact boxing programmes that reach over 10,000 young people across the UK every year. Hosting teambuilding sessions for companies like Tyler Grange is an important means of fundraising and we hope to welcome more businesses through our doors.

“By doing so, they’ll be helping us to enable even more young people to get the support they need to lead positive and healthy lives and help us to prevent future loss of life to youth violence.”
